The Otero Dance Studio is a long-standing program committed to providing quality dance instruction with a focus on safety, technique, and personal growth. Serving students from age 3 through adulthood, the studio fosters a healthy self-image, strength, and confidence through various disciplines including ballet, tap, jazz, and pointe. It serves as a vital stepping stone for students in the Arkansas Valley who wish to pursue dance in college and beyond.
Jennifer Jackson is the Director of the Otero Dance Studio and a former student of the program's founder, Darlene Blackford. She has trained with numerous professional dance companies, including the Colorado Ballet and the University of Wyoming Dance and Theater Department.

Pointe Technique
Otero College Dance Studio
Pointe classes are available for students aged 12 and above who have demonstrated the necessary strength and technique. The program emphasizes safety to prevent injury to the feet and ankles during advanced pointe work. Students must meet specific requirements to participate in this level.

Tap/Jazz
Otero College Dance Studio
This 45-60 minute combined class progresses at a steady pace through tap and jazz steps and combinations. The class includes warm-ups, center floor work, and movement across the floor to build technical skills. Levels are adjusted based on the needs of the students.

Ballet Classes

These classes are offered for all levels of ballet starting from age 6. The curriculum focuses on safety, technique, and building strength while fostering a love for the art of dance. Students progress through levels as they develop their skills and confidence.

Pre-Dance/K-Dance

This class is for kindergarten-aged children and incorporates a combination of ballet, tap, and acrobatics. It focuses on building foundational dance skills while maintaining a fun and supportive atmosphere. Students work on coordination and rhythm through structured movement.

Creative Movement

This class is designed for young children to begin developing coordination, stamina, and strength. It provides a fun environment for students to explore movement and build confidence. The program serves as an introduction to dance for pre-school aged children.
