About

The Koshare Dancers are a youth organization based in La Junta, Colorado, that combines traditional Boy Scout activities with the study and performance of Native American dance and culture. Members, who are part of local Scout troops, dedicate themselves to learning dance, constructing authentic costumes, and maintaining high academic standards. The organization is also home to the Koshare Indian Museum, which houses a significant collection of Southwest art and artifacts.

The organization was founded in 1933 by J.F. "Buck" Burshears, a visionary Scoutmaster who led the troop for fifty-five years and established the tradition of excellence that continues today.
